Mrs. Ruby Reeves






Mrs. Ruby Reeves passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home. Graveside services were held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 12 noon at Woodlawn City Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Hatcher officiating.


Mrs. Ruby Haynes Reeves was born on September 27, 1922 in Washington County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mrs. Claudia “Sugar” Adkins Roberts of Sandersville, Georgia and the late Mr. J.C. Haynes, Sr. of Hickory, North Carolina.


She was a proud graduate of T.J. Elder High School. She was the devoted wife of the late Mr. Moses Reeves, the love of her life. Mrs. Ruby put her faith in Jesus Christ, and was a lifelong member of Springfield Baptist Church .

Mrs. Reeves was a strong woman, an independent thinker, immaculate homemaker, gardener, outstanding baker as well as a well respected citizen of her Sandersville community. She cared for her flowers, her fruit trees, the neighborhood kitties and anyone who came to her door.


She became disabled by a stroke at the age of ninety six (96). She went to her eternal rest on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the age of ninety eight (98), after being a resident of Heritage Inn Nursing Home for two years.

She was preceded in death by eight siblings: Mr. Joseph Charles Haynes, Jr., Mrs. Edna Juanita “Snook” Hunt Day, Mr. Willie Marion “P. Jack” Adkins, Ms. Annie Claude Adkins, Ms. Margaret Adkins, Ms. Christine Hall, Mr. Manse Bob “MB” Hall, Mr. Thomas Vernon Adkins, Sr. and a cousin: Mrs. Audrey “Audie” Archer, the family’s longest living relative (108).


Mother Reeves leaves cherished memories to her beloved cousins: Mrs. Annie Miriam (Cannon) Beale, Johnson City, New York; Mr. Alfred (Barbara) Cannon, Metuchen, New Jersey, Ms. Kate Watkins, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Lois Brown, Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Chappelle (Kenneth) Davis, Atlanta, Georgia; devoted nieces and nephew: Rev. Claudette (Bishop David) Copeland, San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Stacy Lynn (Roscoe) Garner, Mrs. Tracy Adkins Reed, Buffalo, New York, Ms. Leslie Anne Adkins, Mr. Thomas V. Adkins, II, Phoenix, Arizona; great nieces and nephews: Ms. Candace Garner, Mr. Roscoe Garner, IV, Mr. Joseph Beale, Mr. Daniel Beale, Mr. David Beale, Mr. James Kenneth Beale, Ms. Amanda Palmer, Ms. Amirah Walker, Ms. Ashley Mundy, Ms. Alicia Adkins, Mr. Malakai Palmer, Mr. Christian Tucker; her most beloved and devoted cousin/friend: Mrs. Dorothy Stephens, Sandersville, Georgia; relatives of the late Mr. Moses Reeves, the late Mr. E.D. Ray and the late Mrs. Gladys Ray Robinson, Sandersville, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
