Mother Nether Lee Brown Haynes, affectionately known as “Lee” by her siblings and “Butterball” by her husband, was born in Washington County, Georgia on November 12, 1928 to the parentage of the late Mr. Albany Brown, Sr. and the late Mrs. Beatrice Harris Brown. She was the third of twenty two children.
Mother Haynes was educated at Dixon Grove COGIC School and later in life, she was certified in Home Healthcare. Mother Haynes was a military wife, as her husband served in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. During the nine years that she lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, she was employed at the University of Nebraska. After moving to Boston, Massachusetts (where she lived for thirty eight years), she was employed as a Home Healthcare Aid for thirty years until she retired.
She was an avid church worker. She joined Dixon Grove COGIC at the age of ten and remained faithful until she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she united with a Church of God in Christ and after moving to Boston, Massachusetts, she joined Regent’s St. COGIC under the leadership of the late Bishop Louis Ceasar Young and later joined New Hope COGIC under the leadership of Elder Timothy Adams, Sr.
Mother Haynes loved New Hope COGIC and she served as the Bible Band Teacher and choir member.
In 1992, Mother Haynes and her husband relocated to Tennille, Georgia. At the time, she reconnected with Dixon Grove COGIC and remained faithful until death. She served in the following capacities: Bible Band President, Pastor’s Aid Member, Mother Board, Adult Sunday School Teacher, and was a faithful Sunday School Worker. Truly, whatever her hands found to do at Dixon Grove, she did it faithfully with all of her might. She was also a member of the Community Mothers of Washington County.
