Mr. Nathan Chatman

November 15, 2019

Mr. Nathan Chatman, Warthen, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Second Mineral Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Robert L. Smith officiating. Interment was held in St. Paul C.M.E. Church Cemetery. 

 

He was born on January 6, 1930 to the parentage of the late Mr. William Chatman, Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Clayton Chatman in Hancock County, Georgia.

 

At an early age he joined St. Paul CME Church. He worked many jobs during his lifetime including Griffin Pipe Company, Universal Rundle and Hancock County Board of Education as a Security Guard. His favorite hobby was fishing. On December 26, 1987, he joined Ms. Bobbie Jean Jones in holy matrimony.

 

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Ms. Dorothy Chatman; two sons: Mr. Nathan Chatman, Jr., Mr. David Chatman; two sisters: Ms. Ruby Chatman, Ms. Louise Warren; and four brothers: Mr. Edward Chatman, Mr. William Chatman, Jr., Mr. Clarence Chatman and Mr. John B. Chatman.

 

Mr. Chatman leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife: Mrs. Bobbie Jean Chatman; two daughters: Ms. Bertha Jones, Sparta, Georgia, Ms. Shenique Jones, Warthen, Georgia; five sons: Mr. Mario (Kirsten) Chatman, Barnesville, Georgia, Mr. Clifford Chatman, Mr. Julian Chatman, Mr. Henry Chatman, Mr. Amos Chatman, Sparta, Georgia; two sisters: Ms. Ola Stembridge, Sparta, Georgia, Ms. Willie Mae Lurry, Cairo, Georgia; one brother: Mr. Marvin Chatman, Sparta, Georgia; two daughters-in-law: Mrs. Mildred Chatman, Albany, Georgia, Mrs. Bernice Chatman, Sparta, Georgia; one sister-in-law: Mrs. Rutha Chatman; two brothers-in-law: Mr. Tommie Jones, Warthen, Georgia, Mr. Edward Jones, Sparta, Georgia; devoted friend: Ms. Adrian Smith; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
