Mr. Madison Young, Jr.


Mr. Madison Young, Jr., passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Washington County Regional Medical Center, Sandersville, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2:30 P.M. at Robin Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Walden officiating. Interment was held in New Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Young was born on June 2, 1928 in Danville, VA to the parentage of the late Mr. Madison Young, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Young.

At a young age he became a member of St. Galilee in Wrightsville, GA. He was later ordained as a deacon at Swint Spring Baptist Church and later moved his membership to New Baptist Church where he served as a deacon faithfully for forty two years until his health failed.

In June 1948 he was joined in holy matrimony to Mrs. Roberta Cato Young. This union was blessed with seven children; two daughters and five sons.

Mr. Madison had many jobs through out his life and retired from Forrestmann Company, Inc. after fifteen years of dedicated service. He enjoyed being outside caring for his animals, gardening, riding his tractor and doing carpentry work. He also loved attending church and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son: Mr. Lee Young; grandson: Mr. Antonio Warren; his seven sisters and three brothers.

Mr. Madison leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife of seventy years: Mrs. Roberta Cato Young, Sandersville, GA; two daughters: Mrs. Yvonne (Willie) Warren, Sparta, GA, Ms. LaTassha Young, Sandersville, GA; four sons: Mr. Willie Young, Mr. Jerry (Shavon) Young, Mr. Billy (Tracy) Young, Sandersville, GA, Mr. Jimmy (Rhonda) Young, Winston, GA; four sisters-in-law: Ms. Julia Jetter, Decatur, GA, Ms. Mary Cato, Ms. Shirley Cato, Sandersville, Ga Ms. Lillie M. Cato, Milledgeville, GA; one brother-in-law: Mr. Hubert (Mary) Cato, Sandersville, GA; twelve grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; three devoted friends: Mr. Rayfield Brown, Mr. Johnny O’Quin, Mr. and Mrs. Parham; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
