Ms. Marica Duggan


Ms. Marica Duggan, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at her residence. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 4:30 P.M. at Jordan Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Troy Duggan, Sr. officiating.


She was born in Sandersville, Georgia on February 1, 1964 to the late Ms. Eloise Duggan. She grew up in The Bronx, New York.


Ms. Duggan attended Public School 63, Public School 60, Junior High School 120 and graduated from Walton High School, all in The Bronx, New York.


She participated in the New York City High School Co-op Program where she went to school and worked alternate weeks; she worked at McDonald’s during her Co-op participation.


Lisa was well known in her Bronx neighborhood for taking care of her family and friends. She was a force to be reckoned with. If you knew her, then you know.


In The Bronx, Lisa loved hanging out with her family and friends. She loved music and going to parties, where she witnessed the innovation of hip hop and rap music.


In 1987, she moved back to Sandersville, Georgia to care for her ailing grandfather. After his death, she worked at Sandersville Technical College and did volunteer work in the Washington County Schools and a nursing home. She also assisted with taking care of her elderly neighbor until his death.


Ms. Duggan had a niece and two nephews whom she helped care for. They would come from New York and spend the summers with her. When her grandkids came along, she was the doting grandmother; spoiling her three grandchildren, within limits...if you knew her, then you know.


She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Mr. Will Duggan, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Ella Duggan; grandson: Elijah Raekwon Eppes Dixon; aunts: Ms. Mary Frances Savage, Ms. Willie Ruth Duggan and uncles: Mr. Joe Duggan and Mr. Will Duggan, Jr.


Ms. Duggan leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter: Mrs. Asia (Gary) Cliett, Sandersville, Georgia; three grandchildren: Ms. Ti’Shenna Dixon, Mr. Isaiah Eppes, Ms. G’Nasia Cliett; two sisters: Ms. Jacqueline Tucker, Yonkers, New York, Ms. Tamika Parsons, Schenectady, New York; three brothers: Mr. Johnny Duggan, Schenectady, New York, Mr. Bennie Tucker, Waianae, Hawaii, Mr. Curtis Duggan, Bronx, New York, three aunts: Ms. Mary Wilson, Douglasville, Georgia, Mrs. Annie Jordan Duggan, Brooklyn, New York, devoted aunt: Ms. Bessie Duggan, Sandersville, Georgia; one niece: Mrs. Chinela (Torre) Becton, Austin, Texas; two nephews: Mr. Maken Wharton, Mr. Terrance Wharton, Yonkers, New York; a host of other relatives and friends.
