Lovingly known as “Steve,” “MacGyver” and “Bae,” Steve was born in Coney Island, New York to the parentage of the late Mr. Otis and Mrs. Myrtle Lester.
He grew up in Far Rockaway Queens, New York and attended Far Rockaway High School. This is where he met his lifelong partner in crime, companion and spiritual sister Debby. When they met, he was sixteen (16) and she was fifteen (15) years old. On November 14, 2024, they would have been married for forty-nine (49) years. He moved his family to Georgia in 1989 where he resided until his death.
He was a father figure not just for his family but for countless friends young and old in the community. He was dedicated, hardworking and a jack of all trades. Steve was an honest man and taught his family to be the same way. He worked for the Sandersville Housing Authority for thirty (30) plus years until his death.
Steve symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God by water baptism on January 16, 1993. He was a congregation elder, territory servant and regular pioneer. He loved Jehovah and His son Jesus Christ. He cherished his wife and adored his children as well as all seven of his grandchildren.
He loved cooking, fishing, music, sports, traveling, eating good food and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Steve was always optimistic, his most outstanding quality was a positive attitude. He enjoyed conversation with others and especially good at informal witnessing. Jehovah was real to Steve and a vital part of his life. He proved faithful to his God Jehovah until his death.
