Mrs. Mary Alice Duggan


Mrs. Mary Alice Duggan, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Benjamin Martin officiating. Interment was held in Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.


Mrs. Duggan was born February 23, 1953 to the parentage of the late Ms. Ida Lee Wells and the late Mr. Finis Harper.


She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church, but often worshipped with New Baptist Church and Mount Zion Baptist Church.


Mrs. Duggan was a graduate of Washington County High School with the class of 1971, the very first integrated class.


She retired from Washington County Board of Education, in Food Service after thirty five (35) faithful years.

Mrs. Duggan enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time with family.


She was preceded in death by her husband: Mr. James “Bubba” Duggan, III and sister: Mrs. Carolyn Duggan.


Mrs. Duggan leaves cherished memories to her children: Mrs. Sabrina (Vincent) Grissom, Ms. Teresa Jones, Mrs. Veronica (Sheldon) Minor, Ms. Vikki Irwin (Corey Forrest), Ms. Erica Gonder, Ms. Jasmine Duggan (Craig Hargrove), Mr. Renaldo Duggan (Daryus); siblings: Ms. Janice Donaldson, Ms. Olivia Sims, Mrs. Bernice (David) Jones, Mr. Enoch (Kalenza) Walters, Mr. Tommie Hagans, Mr. Joseph Evans, Jr.; aunt: Ms. Janie King; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Sara (Frank) Simmons, Ms. Willie Mae Thompson; brother-in-law: Mr. Willie (Geraldine) Harden; devoted niece: Ms. Darlene Mathis; god-mother: Ms. Mary Will Robinson; devoted friends: Mrs. Barbara Reeves, Mrs. Gwendolyn Jefferson Reeves, Ms. Denise Cordy, Ms. Emma Macklin, Ms. Diane Smith; twelve (12) grandchildren: Shakeivia Robinson, Branquavious Robinson, Sean (Sidney) Swan, Navaishia Watson, Larityouna Brown, Ivey Brown, Santonio Brown, Sheldon Minor, Jr., Venecia (Publo) Devia, Keith Reeves, Jr., Jakari Frazier, Aya Hargrove; two (2) great grandchildren: Mr. Tristan Robinson, Little Miss Summer Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
