Mrs. Joann Fraley




Mrs. Joann Fraley passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness. Funeral services were held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at New Gardners COGIC with Rev. Warren Harris, officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery.


Mrs. Fraley was born on July 13, 1952 in Washington County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. A.L. Samuel Merrell and the late Mrs. Ella Mae Merrell.


She was affectionately known as “Jo.” She was always kind to everyone she met and had a big heart. Sister Fraley was a mother to everyone in the neighborhood. She fed and helped to take care of all of her nieces, nephews and many other children.


Mrs. Fraley loved to decorate during the holidays. She was a great cook, and everyone ate at her house on Sundays.

On November 12, 1971, she married Mr. Willie James Fraley.


After many years of service, she retired from Central State Hospital.


Sister Fraley leaves to cherish her memories, her husband: Mr. Willie James Fraley; son: Mr. Tyrone Fraley (Deborah); daughters: Ms. Tonya Fraley (John); Mrs. Dawn (Arthur) Warren; grandchildren: Brandon Fraley, Kamarr Dixon, Arthur Warren, III, Arleonna Warren, Ardon Warren; six brothers: Mr. Thomas (Pearlie) Jordan, Mr. Sammie (Annie) Merrell, Mr. Clifford (Geraldine) Merrell, Mr. Eddie Lee (Sallie) Merrell, Mr. Eddie Ray (Jacquelyn) Merrell, Mr. Herman Merrell; three sisters: Mrs. Susie (Jerry) Johnson, Ms. Janice Brown, Mrs. Dorothy (James) Walker; god-children: Ms. Tiffany Walker, Mr. Tyler Brown; sisters-in-law: Ms. Della Fraley, Mrs. Joanne Fraley, Mrs. Maxine (Rev. Warren) Harris; brothers-in-law: Mr. Doug Fraley, Mr. Ernest Fraley; aunts: Ms. Annie Ruth Gregory, Ms. Willie Pearl Archer; great aunt: Ms. Jeserine Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
