Ms. Christine Ivey

Ms. Christine Ivey, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at St. James CME, Sparta, Georgia with Rev. Dwight Crew officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery.

Ms. Ivey was born on June 9, 1934 to the parentage of the late Ms. Willie Mae Ivey and Mr. Robert Castleberry of Sparta, Georgia.

At an early age joined St. James C.M.E. Church where she served as a faithful usher. Under her leadership, many ushers joined the usher board.

Ms. Ivey attended the Public Schools in Hancock County. She was a homemaker and worked for many years until her retirement in 2012.

She was preceded in death by two children and eight grandchildren.

Ms. Ivey leaves cherished memories to her seven children: Mrs. Minnie (Eddie Roy) Ruff, Sparta, Georgia, Ms. Betty R. Ivey, Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Vera Ivey (George Fann), Warthen, Georgia, Mr. Lester Ivey (Towanda Darrisaw), Hephzibah, Georgia, Mr. Phillip Ivey (Diane Holsey), Tennille, Georgia, Ms. Marilyn Womble, Warthen, Georgia, Ms. Rose M. Ivey (Roy Warren), Sandersville, Georgia; one brother: Mr. David Ivey (Mary Haynes), Oconee, Georgia; one nephew: Mr. Derek (Coteza) Ivey, Atlanta, Georgia; bonus daughter: Mrs. Evelyn A. Watson, Milledgeville, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
