Mrs. Alma Jean Lane



Mrs. Alma Jean Lane, of the Tybee Community, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at her residence. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Hatcher officiating. Interment was held in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.


She was born on April 8, 1936 in Washington County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Clarence Mitchell and the late Mrs. Valerie Mitchell.


Mrs. Lane attended the public schools of Washington County for grade school. She received her GED in 1987.


She worked as a medical associate at Dr. Helton's office and as a paraprofessional at T.J. Elder Primary School until her retirement.


Her hobbies included attending church, solving crossword puzzles, gardening and watching her daytime talk shows such as Jerry Springer and Steve Wilkos.


She was preceded in death by her sister: Mrs. Addie Washington; nieces: Ms. Linda Washington, Ms. Mattie Washington, Ms. Debbie Washington and nephew: Mr. McArthur James.


Mrs. Lane leaves to cherish her memories, her sister: Mrs. Betty (Terry) Miller; niece: Ms. Carolyn Washington; nephews: Mr. Gary Washington, Mr. Marvin Washington, Mr. Freddie Washington, Mr. Richard Washington; devoted friends: Ms. Rochelle Washington, Ms. Annette Williams, Mrs. Mary (James) Kitchens, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Latimore, Ms. Claudia Moore, Mr. Henry Watts, Mr. Marvin Harris, Sr., Ms. Anne Davis, Mr. Jeffrey Gundy, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, Ms. Beverly Thompson; a host of other relatives and friends. M.C.
