Mr. Tommie L. Dixon


Mr. Tommie L. Dixon, departed this life on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Dixon Grove COGIC with Rev. Jeremiah Wooten officiating. Interment was in Dixon Family Cemetery, Tennille, Georgia.


He was born on October 18, 1941 to the parentage of the late Mr. Jessie Dixon and the late Mrs. Mabel Roberson Dixon.

On June 16, 1962, he was joined in holy matrimony to Ms. Claudia Mae Hurst. This union was blessed with four children.

Tommie was employed by Burgess Pigment Company where he retired after thirty (30) plus years of service as a shift foremen.

Mr. Dixon was a member of Dixon Grove C.O.G.I.C. He was a man that grew up singing, pulp wooding, farming and loving the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by nine siblings: Annie Mary, Elizabeth, Ruth Thelma, Louise, Bessie, Rosie, Bob, Nathaniel, Earnest; father-in-law: Mr. Marion Hurst, Sr.; mother-in-law: Mrs. Lee Alice Hurst; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Winnie Bell, Mrs. Marguerite Jeanie Stubbs, Mrs. Willie Mae Dixon; brothers-in-law: Mr. Willie Hurst and Mr. Joe Hill.

Mr. Dixon leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife: Mrs. Claudia Dixon, Tennille, Georgia; two daughters; Mrs. Shirley (Tyrone) Johnson, Rincon, Georgia, Mrs. Cassandra (Lee) Barlow, Tennille, Georgia; two sons: Mr. Carl (Linda) Dixon, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Eric (Lady Atienza) Dixon, Oahu, Hawaii; one brother: Mr. Sammie (Mildred) Dixon, Tennille, Georgia; four sisters-in-law: Ms. Brenda Faye Hurst, Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Carol Wright, Macon, Georgia, Ms. Mary Hill, Haddock, Georgia, Mrs. Willie Bell Dixon; two brothers-in-law: Mr. Marion (Irma) Hurst, Jr. Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Eula (Annie) Hurst, Tennille, Georgia; devoted caregiver: Ms. Annette Miller; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
