Mr. James Calvin Nicholson, Jr.


Mr. James Calvin Nicholson, Jr. passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Hatcher officiating. Interment was held in Woodlawn City Cemetery.


Mr. Nicholson was born on January 17, 1960 to the parentage of the late Rev. James Calvin Nicholson, Sr. and the late Mrs. Patricia Nicholson.


He was educated in both the New Jersey and Orlando, Florida school systems and was a 1978 graduate of Oak Ridge High School, Orlando, Florida. A proud Golden Ram, he was a 1982 graduate of Albany State University where he pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. in the Spring of 1981.


Mr. Nicholson was no stranger to the Lord as he was raised in the church. Upon relocating to Sandersville, he attended Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. Before medically retiring in 2014, James was a physical education teacher and a coach in the DeKalb County School System for twenty-four years.


He was preceded in death by his parents: Rev. James Calvin Nicholson, Sr., Mrs. Patricia Nicholson and a sister: Ms. Rosemary Nicholson.


Mr. Nicholson leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters: Ms. Gre’Shun Nicholson, Mrs. Juaquasha (Jonathan) Hackley; three sisters: Dr. Frankie Nicholson, Ms. Sharon Hunt, Ms. April Santiago; four grandchildren: Mr. Olamide` Dixon, Mr. Johaan Hackley, Miss Jacee Hackley, Miss Jacelyn Hackley; devoted friends: Mr. Kent Whitten, Mr. Tommy Dopson, Mr. Tim Young, Rev. Marvin Howard, Mr. Curtis Leslie, Mr. Carlos Diaz, Mr. James “Hollywood” Henderson, Ms. Kathy Young, Ms. Barbara Cain; devoted niece: Mrs. Trimitra Nicholson Fatoki; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. M. C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
