Mrs. Eva Wilcher
Mrs. Eva Wilcher, Sandersville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at New Tennille AME Church, Tennille, Georgia. Interment was held in Jordan Station Cemetery.
She was born on December 24 to the parentage of the late Mr. Alex Holloman, Sr. and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Corbett Holloman in Sumter, South Carolina.
Mrs. Wilcher was a graduate of Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. After college she relocated to Washington County, Georgia where she served as an educator for forty years, retiring from D.D. Crawford Primary School. After retirement from the school system, she continued to educate at the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice and worked at the polls as a Voters Registrar.
She was a member of Jordan Station AME Church, now known as New Tennille AME Church, where she served faithfully as a Missionary, Trustee, Stewardess, Usher and former Class Leader. She was a dedicated member of the Washington County Retired Educators Association and the Women’s Missionary Society.
Mrs. Wilcher was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Charlie Wilcher and to this union four children were born.
She was preceded in death by one son: Mr. Charles “Bro” Wilcher; two sisters: Ms. Adell Holloman, Ms. Mary Holloman; and three brothers: Mr. Alex Holloman, Jr., Mr. James Holloman and Mr. Bernie Holloman.
Mrs. Wilcher leaves to cherish her memories three children: Mrs. Patricia W. Brinson, Mrs. Ardeen W. Wiley, Tennille, Georgia, Mr. Wayne E. Wilcher, Sandersville, Georgia; one step-daughter: Mrs. Juanita (Cecil) Hilliard, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; one sister: Mrs. Juanita H. Gass, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one brother-in-law: Mr. Jeremiah Wilcher, Newport News, Virginia; nine grandchildren: Ms. Tarrain Hall-Hood, who she raised as her own, Mr. Carlton (Pam) Anthony, Mr. Tarrance Francis, Mr. R. Andrae Wiley, Ms. Sabreena Dixon, Mr. Quinton Dixon, Ms. Brianna Wiley, Mr. Joel Brinson, Ms. Rachel Wiley; fifteen great grandchildren; devoted caregiver: Ms. Toneika Lewis; a host of favorite nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
