Mrs. Vallie Harris

Mrs. Vallie Harris, Sandersville, GA, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Smith Medical Nursing Care Center. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Owens officiating. Interment will be held in New Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was born on September 14, 1929 in Washington County, GA to the parentage of the late Mr. Robert Cato and the late Mrs. Ethel Cato.

Mrs. Harris was a faithful member of New Baptist Church, Sandersville, GA where she served diligently as the mother of the church, Sunday school teacher, and church treasurer. She was employed at Sandersville Golf Course.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Christine Archer Heggs and six siblings.

Mrs. Harris is survived by six daughters: Ms. Gladys Miles, Atlanta, GA, Ms. Marie Harris, Ms. Mary Washington, Mrs. Bernice (Dwayne) Renfroe, Sandersville, GA, Mrs. Sarah (Bennie) Johnson, Belle Chasse, LA; three sons: Mr. Robert (Kandie) Harris, Austell, GA, Mr. Bobbie (Mary) Harris, Sandersville, GA, Mr. Sammie (Lortica) Harris, Millen, GA; three sisters: Mrs. Roberta (Madison) Young, Ms. Mary Cato, Sandersville, GA, Ms. Julie Geter, Atlanta, GA; one brother: Mr. Hubert (Mary) Cato, Sandersville, GA; five sisters-in-law: Ms. Shirley Cato, Ms. Willie Mae Cato, Ms. Cora L. Harris, Ms. Joanne Harris, Sandersville, GA, Ms. Alberta Mitchell, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; eighty-seven grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; one grandson whom she raised: Mr. Roderick Harris; devoted grandson: Mr. Tanquear Renfroe; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is in charge.
