Rev. Tom Miles

Rev. Tom Miles, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Sandersville, Georgia. Graveside services were held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Corian Roberson officiating. Rev. Dr. Christopher Watkins, Eulogist.

He was born on August 30, 1935 in Warthen, GA to the parentage of the late Mrs. Lucille Miles and the late Mr. Gordon Haynes.

Tom attended the Washington County Public School System. He was employed by the Washington County Board of Education, Geo. D. Warthen Bank and the Washington County Senior Citizens Center.

Reverend Miles answered the call to minister to God’s people, and was ordained at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Warthen, GA under Rev. Gilmore. He served as Pastor of Second Community Baptist Church in Sandersville, GA, New Baptist Church in Deepstep, GA, Jordan Grove Baptist Church in Davisboro, GA and as Assistant Pastor of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Sandersville, GA.

Tom enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for his family, which he was quite good at, maintaining his lawn, reading his Bible and spending time with his wife Bessie, whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his brother: Mr. Willie James Bell; father-in-law: Mr. Charlie B. Cummings, Sr., mother-in-law: Ms. Sara Lizzie Cummings and brother-in-law Mr. Charlie B. Cummings, Jr.

Rev. Miles leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife: Mrs. Bessie Miles, Warthen, GA; son: Mr. Terry (Marvella) Cullens, Ellenwood, GA; granddaughter: Ms. Alexis McKenzie, Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law: Mr. Arthur (Virginia) Cummings, Soperton, GA; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Valarie (Pastor Mack) Jackson, Sandersville, Mrs. Jacquelyn (Thomas) Reddick, Covington, GA, Mrs. Mary Ann (Reginald) Massey, Sandersville, GA; cousin: Mr. Harold (Rose) Wiley, Milledgeville, GA; nieces: Mrs. Sandra (David) Coppet, Geneva, GA, Mrs. Rosa (Andrew) Adams, Columbus, GA; a host of devoted cousins, other relatives and friends.
