Mrs. Valerie Williams Wright
Mrs. Valerie Williams Wright passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Graveside services were held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Valerie Elaine Williams Wright was born to the late George B. and Eloise Hughes Williams, Jr. on June 4, 1959, in Savannah Georgia.
Valerie passed away on Thursday afternoon while at Wake Med hospital in Raleigh, NC, with her family by her side.
Valerie graduated from Washington County High School in Sandersville, Georgia ,and furthered her education at Crandall College in Macon Georgia. Upon graduating, Valerie relocated to Augusta, Georgia where she worked for the Medical College Georgia as a medical office assistant.
While living in Augusta, Georgia, Valerie married high school sweetheart, Dr .Jimmy Wright, also of Sandersville Georgia in 1981, and on May 8 , 2023,
celebrated 42 years of marriage.
In 1982, Valerie relocated to Friedberg, West Germany with Jimmy, and their son Marcus, where she served as the administrative secretary for the 3rd Armored Division Noncommissioned Officer Academy; a job for which she received numerous awards and citations.
Upon being stationed at Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1990, Valerie and her
family submitted to the leadership of Apostle J. V. Porter and Pastor Nora Porter. She served the Lord’s church and His people with simplicity and humility. However, her first love and truest passion was the ministry of encouragement to
the sick and shut-in. Valerie used her ministry gift to touch many lives, and she remained faithful to her assignment until the Lord called her home.
Valerie leaves to cherish her memories her husband: Dr. Jimmy Wright, Clayton, North Carolina; one son: Mr. Marcus J. Wright (Monik), Zebulon, North Carolina; one daughter: Ms. Nisha S. Wright of Clayton, North Carolina; two
granddaughters: MarLeigh Jade Wright of Slidell, Louisiana, and Madison Elaine Wright of Zebulon, North Carolina; one brother, Benjamin Gerald Williams (Tawanna) of Grayson, Georgia; one niece: Lauren Gabrielle Williams, and a host
of other relatives and friends. M. C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband: Rev. Dr. Jimmy Wright; daughter: Ms. Nisha Simone Wright; son: Mr. Marcus J. (Ebony) Wright; two grandchildren: Marleigh Wright, Madison Wright; brother: Mr. Gerald (Tawanna) Williams; sister-in-law: Ms. Janice Wright, Sandersville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Lea Funeral Home, 2500 Poole Road, Raleigh, North Carolina.
