Ms. Betty Jean Roberson




Ms. Betty Jean Roberson, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Coliseum Medical Center, Macon, Georgia. Graveside services were held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Woodlawn City Cemetery, Sandersville, Georgia.


Ms. Roberson was born on June 14, 1950 to the parentage of the late Mr. William Roberson and the late Mrs. Mandy Wheeler Roberson.


She was a graduate of the Thomas Jefferson High School of Washington County with the class of 1968. At an early age she joined Saint Paul A.M.E. Church, Sandersville, Georgia.


Ms. Roberson pursued many occupational options. She was employed at Rawlings Nursing Home, Sandersville Police Department, Washington County Memorial Hospital and Exhale Home Health Care, formerly located in Milledgeville, Georgia until retirement.


Ms. Roberson was an active member of the Washington County Black Youth Club (BYC) under the leadership of the late Mr. Richard Turner, Sr. She was dedicated to uplifting and inspiring change within the community. She also enjoyed sharing fun memories with her family and friends, fishing, cooking and singing.


She was preceded in death by five sisters: Mrs. Susie Mae Roberson, Mrs. Jeannie Mae Braddy, Mrs. Ella M. Hicks, Mrs. Grace R. Hood, Mrs. Amanda M. Roberson; two brothers: Mr. William Z. Roberson and Mr. Joe D. Roberson.


Ms. Roberson leaves to cherish her memories, a son: Mr. Tony L. Roberson, Sandersville, Georgia; one sister: Mrs. Esther Brookins, Levittown, Pennsylvania; one brother: Mr. Rawling (Bernice) Roberson, Sandersville, Georgia; granddaughter: Ms. Monique K. Speigner, Hoover, Alabama; devoted cousin: Ms. Barbara Wheeler; devoted friends: Mr. Leo Flournoy, Mrs. Jean Hall, Mrs. Doris A. Wilcher, Mrs. Danny M. Miller; eighteen nieces; fifteen nephews; several other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
