Mr. Richard Haynes


Mr. Richard Haynes, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. Graveside services were held privately by the family.

He was born on November 27, 1948, in Lincoln, NE to the parentage of Deacon Lewis Haynes, Jr. and the late Mother Nether Lee Brown Haynes.

At an early age, he was a member of the Church of God in Christ in Lincoln, NE and he was also a member of the New Hope Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Timothy Adams, Sr. in Boston, MA. After relocating to Tennille, GA, Richard united with Dixon Grove Church of God in Christ and remained a member until death. At Dixon Grove, in times past, Richard served on the food service committee and he had a wonderful spirit of hospitality.

Richard attended Boston Public Schools and after graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He attained the rank of Sergeant and received the following medals: The National Defense Service, Vietnamese Service Medal and the Marksman Badge-Rifle Medal. He received an honorable discharge from active duty in 1971. Later that year, he re-enlisted into the Marin Corp Reserve and remained until 1974. After leaving the Corps, he relocated to Boston, MA and was employed by the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) as a city bus driver for nineteen years. After returning to Georgia, Richard worked for McDonald’s and Captain D’s respectively.

More than forty (40) years ago, Richard was united in Holy Matrimony to the lovely Ms. Dianne Cardover of New Bedford, MA and to their union a lovely baby girl named Ray Asia Haynes was born.

He was preceded in death by his baby brother: Mr. Fred Anthony Haynes who went to heaven at the tender age of twelve (12).

Mr. Haynes leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Mrs. Diann C. Haynes, New Bedford, MA; one daughter: Ms. Rae-Asia Haynes, New Bedford, MA; two sons: Mr. Anthony Jackson, Mr. Steven Haynes, Boston, MA; father: Deacon Lewis Haynes, Jr., Tennille, GA; one brother: Mr. Leroy (Natalie) Haynes, Baltimore, MD; three grandsons: Anthony Elijah Jackson, Anthony Devonte Jackson, Anthony Akeem Jackson, Boston, MA; one great granddaughter: Annalise; one great grandson: Elias; three uncles: Mr. Artis Brown, Boston, MA, Mr. Richard Brown, Lincoln, NE, Mr. John W. Brown, Macon, GA; nine aunts: Mrs. Mary Johnson, Evangelist Deborah Brown, Tennille, GA, Mrs. Mary Will Pickett, Bridgeton, NJ, Mrs. Derral Brown-Bishop, Evangelist Dorothy Brown-Byrd, Ms. Betty Fleming, Boston, MA, Ms. Mary J. Brown, Worcester, MA, Missionary Bessie Lucas, Ms. Priscilla Brown, Macon, GA; devoted cousin; Mrs. Mary Ann Carr, Tennille, GA; devoted neighbor: Ms. Alisa Green, Tennille, GA; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
