Mr. Norman Tucker, Jr.
Mr. Norman Tucker, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Comfort Creek Nursing Home in Wadley, Georgia. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at a private family cemetery.
A time to be born:
Mr. Norman “Pa” Tucker, Jr. was born on March 30, 1937 to the parentage of the late Mr. Norman Tucker, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mozella Hilson Tucker.
A time to live:
Norman was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. One of his favorite pastimes was talking about God and his relationship with Him. Norman served as an evangelist for many years spreading the gospel.
Norman , affectionately known as “Pa,” married Lucy Jane Brown in 1960. Through this union the two were blessed with seven children: Sophie, Gary, Norma, Naomi, Henry, Henrietta and Jacqueline. They were blessed with twenty eight (28) grandchildren, his grandson, Christopher Edwards, was a “bonus child” that Norman assisted in raising, thirty nine (39) great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Norman enjoyed nothing more than being a father and grandfather.
At an early age Norman developed a love for fishing and hunting. Most of his free time was spent at his favorite fishing holes. Some of Norman’s fondest memories were of him and Lucy fishing and cooking at the river with their seven children. Norman was a self-taught mechanic and enjoyed working on neighbors vehicles. He was an avid squirrel and coon hunter and rabbit trapper. Norman loved drinking a cold Pepsi or cup of coffee on hot days.
Norman was employed at Carter’s Manufacturing Company of Sandersville for many years. Later in life Norman and long-time friends, Mr. Otis “Bubba” Braddy, Mr. Arthur “Cheese Braddy and Mr. Pete Marion started a pine straw business. Through this business venture, they taught many of their children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighborhood children many valuable lessons about hard work.
A time to die:
God Called Norman home on April 8, 2020.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the tie of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but into all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 6-8
He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter: Ms. ShaWanta Mearidy; daughter: Mrs. Henrietta Tucker Jordan; granddaughter: Ms. Talesia Tucker; grandson: Mr. Justin G. Warthen; two brothers: Mr. Elton “Duke” Tucker, Mr. Ed /Rivers tucker; two sisters: Ms. Bernice T. May and Ms. Lillie Jane Ladson.
Norman will forever be cherished in memory by his family and friends. Cherishing his memories are his six children: Mrs. Sophia (Charlie) Lundy, Warthen, Georgia, Mr. Gary Tucker, Sr., Davisboro, Georgia, Mrs. Norma (Donald) Wiley, Davisboro, Georgia, Mrs. Naomi (Daron) French, Macon, Georgia, Mr. Henry Lee Tucker, Davisboro, Georgia, Ms. Jacquelin Tucker, Davisboro, Georgia; two sisters: Ms. Mary Nell Jones, Augusta, Georgia, Ms. Cynthia Erwin, Chattanooga, Tennessee; one brother: Mr. Tommie Tucker, Hephzibah, Georgia; twenty eight (28) grandchildren; thirty nine (39) great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
