Mrs. Lula Mae Tucker
Mrs. Lula Mae Tucker passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Gibson Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Woodlawn City Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Walden officiating.
On Wednesday morning, April 1, 2020, the Lord whispered in Mother Lula Mae Cumming Tucker ears, gave her TWO wings and a BRAND NEW HOME. She answered the call from Heaven.
Mrs. Lula Mae Cumming Tucker was born April 25, 1916 in Washington County, Oconee, GA to the parents of Rev. John Green Cumming and Mrs. Addie Annie Bell Wiggins Cumming. She was the 7th child of 11 children. She attended the Public Schools of Washington County, GA.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and united with Zion Hope Baptist Church. After relocating to the Warthen Community, she united with Holly Springs Baptist Church and then united with New Hope Baptist Church, both of Warthen, GA to worship with her husband. She served faithfully in many capacities (Senior Choir, Usher Board, Mother Board, Church Secretary) until her health failed.
She was united in Holy Matrimony on March 14, 1941 to the late Mr. Frank Tucker. To this union, eight (8) children were born. She retired from the Department of Family and Children Services, Sandersville, GA on April 30, 1982.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John Green Cumming and Mrs. Addie Annie Bell Wiggins Cumming and 10 siblings, husband – Mr. Frank Tucker; sons, Mr. Bennie Lee Tucker and Mr. James Louis Tucker.
She leaves to cherish her memories six children: five (5) daughters: Mrs. Mary Emma Bell Tucker Wilcher, Decatur, GA; Mrs. Shirley Mae Tucker Cheeley, Warrenton, GA; Mrs. Sallie Bernice Tucker Cheeley, Sandersville, GA; Mrs. Gloria Denise (Nathaniel) Wiley, Covington, GA; Mrs. Janice Dawson, Covington, GA; one (1) son: Mr. Willie Frank (Christine) Tucker, Hephzibah, GA; twenty (20) grandchildren, forty-one (41) great grandchildren; four (4) great great grandchildren; two (2) sisters-in-law: Mrs. Bessie W. Cumming (Warthen, GA) and Mrs. Geneva H. Cumming (Macon, GA); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A special friend, Mr. Alvin Kitchens. M.c. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
