Mrs. Audrey Archer
Mrs. Audrey Archer, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at her residence. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Robin Spring Baptist Church, Sandersville, Georgia with Pastor Vell E. Lewis officiating. Interment was held in Woodlawn City Cemetery.
A life-long resident of Sandersville, Mrs. Archer was born January 19, 1912 on Cedar Lane off Deepstep Road in the Robin Spring Community to the parentage of the late Mr. Wilson Rawlings and the late Mrs. Rosa Daniel
Rawlings.
She began her education at the Robin Spring Church School and continued learning at Sandersville High School and Industrial School, later renamed T.J. Elder. She remembered her time at the school very fondly, speaking of the different activities for the girls and boys under the guidance of the beloved principal and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Elder. She later received her GED by attending night school as an adult.
Miss Audie was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and several families who employed her on North Harris Street. Her recipes were featured in the local newspaper and her pound cake was known to be one of the best in Washington County. Miss Audie had fond memories of many people and events in Washington County, and she enjoyed sharing them with the young and old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Delaware Archer; daughter, Ms. Arnita Rawlings; devoted nephew, Mr. James Rawlings, and granddaughter, Ms. Alexandria Brown.
Mrs. Archer leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter: Mrs. Delois Brown, Detroit, Michigan; two grandchildren: Mr. Kirk Brown, Ms. Laraine Davis, Detroit Michigan; one sister, Ms. Rosa Watkins, Detroit Michigan; six great grandchildren, Angela Brown, Yolanda Brown, Kristina Michaux, Elizabeth Davis, Stephanie Davis, Krystal Farmer, Detroit, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews, Vernon Roberts, Albert (Ruby) Rawlings, Rosa Murray, Dorothy Walker, Curtis (Verdell) Rawlings, Ronnie (Charlene) Rawlings, Henry Rawlings, Jr., Lavina Freeman, Sandra Welch, Gladys Butts, Virginia Jackson, Pier Thomas, Debbie Lyman, Johnnie Mae Brown, Winnie Izard, Larry Lyman, Ronnie Lyman; and a host of other caring relatives and friends.
