Mr. Marion Tharpes Jr.

Mr. Marion Tharpes Jr., passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Oconee Health and Rehabilitation in Oconee, Georgia. Graveside services were held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

He was born on January 15, 1938 in Raleigh, North Carolina to the parentage of the late Mr. Marion Tharpes, Sr. and the late Ms. Lena Alberta Lee.

Mr. Tharpes worked for Cypress/Kentucky-Tennessee Clay Company for over thirty years. He enjoyed reading his Bible, watching western movies, walking and talking loud to whomever he had a conversation with.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Dorothy Tharpes; two sons: Mr. Marion Tharpes, III and Mr. Maurice Tharpes.

Mr. Tharpes leaves to cherish his memories two daughters: Mrs. Yvonne (Jerome) Darrisaw, Sandersville, Georgia, Mrs. Lorie (Andrew) Rosier, Augusta, Georgia; two sons: Mr. Leon (Linda) Tharpes, Mr. Melvin (Loretta) Jackson, Sandersville, Georgia; three sisters-in-law: Ms. Brenda Warthen, Ms. Gladys Warthen, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Margaret Warthen, Hephzibah, Georgia; one brother-in-law: Mr. Lenward Warthen, Sandersville, Georgia; three devoted cousins: Ms. Mattie Wilcox, Ms. Joann Hamilton, Ms. Gladys White; devoted friends: Mr. Marcus and Mrs. Marilyn Hood; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
