Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Union Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Owens officiating. Interment was held in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

On August 27, 1926 in a small town called Warthen, GA, the world welcomed Mr. Marvin Edward Seals, Sr. to the late Mr. Emmett and Mrs. Viola Seals.

A man of honor and valor, Marvin grew up to serve his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman and Cargo Driver during WWII. After serving his time, Marvin became a Master Brick Mason, building commercial and residential properties throughout the state of Georgia. He also worked as a Sheet Metal and Pipefitter helper in Norfolk, VA.

Through his love of building, he became a Master Teacher, sharing his gifts with his children, grandchildren and anyone who had the desire to learn. He was also the owner and operator of the “New Image Club” located on Highway 24 East.

His knowledge and wisdom gained him the nickname, “Chief,” as a reminder of the loving leader amongst us all. Marvin’s charisma, humor and wisdom instantly filled any room he would enter. These are the same traits that turned strangers into friends and friends into family.

Remnants of his legacy embraces us all as he leaves this world behind. From the buildings where his hands laid the foundation to the generations of masons that carry on his teachings. From his children who blaze through the world inheriting his fiery spirit and the ones who manifested his caring soul. From his family who will tell the stories of the one and only, Marvin Edward Seals, Sr., to the community who will always remember his work. The chief has left us to be with the Lord, but his legacy will remain forever. In the end, it’s not the years in life, it’s the life in the years.
