Mr. Larry Reeves


Mr. Larry Reeves, passed away at Pine Pointe Hospice, Macon, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 5, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Sandersville, Georgia with Rev. Perry Davis officiating. Interment was held at Jordan Station Church Cemetery.

He was born on November 3, 1950 in Sandersville, GA to the late Sherman and Christine (Jordan) Reeves. Larry was the second oldest of five siblings. He gave his life to Jesus Christ at a young age and was member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Sandersville, GA. In 1968, he graduated from Thomas Jefferson Elder High School in Sandersville, GA.

Immediately after graduating, he honed the United States Air Force and was assigned to the base camp in Panama City, FL. He was a veteran of the Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf where he earned several medal including the Silver Star and a Civil Action Unit Citation. Larry retired in 1997 as a master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force

On July 25, 1981, he married Marilyn Ann Prosser and would have celebrated 37 years of marriage prior to her death in March of this year. In support of his military career as a Transportation Management Specialist they moved to Fairbanks, AK, Newport News, VA and Centerville, VA respectively over a 15 year period. During this time, Larry had a distinguished military career and retired with full honors after 29 years of service. He would then take his same organizational talents to the Federal Civil Service where he retired after 10 years. Larry was meticulous in everything he did from cooking to yard work. Most importantly he loved family and had a giving heart as he was always willing to open his home to those in need.

Larry was predeceased in death by his wife, Marilyn Reeves; father, Sherman Reeves and brother, Sherman (Christopher) Reeves. He is survived by two daughters: Shannon Reeves (Ronald) Flythe, Chesapeake, Virginia, Tiffany Reeves (Christopher) Hunter, Jacksonville, Florida; son, Ken Curry, Herndon, Virginia; mother Mrs. Christine Reeves, Sandersville, Georgia; ;sister, Cathy Reeves Coles, Atlanta, Georgia; brothers: Gary Reeves, Monterey, California, Chester Reeves, Sandersville, Georgia; three grandchildren, Tyson Reeves, Kameron Hunter, Ian Flythe; aunts: Eula Canty, Willie McCoy, Doris Smith and Mildred Blackmon; uncles: James Jordan, Jr. and James Kelley; sister-in-law: Sharon Boston (Michael) as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
