Mrs. Virginia McClarin
Mrs. Virginia McClarin, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at a local nursing home. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Healing Temple Ministries, Sandersville, Georgia with Bishop Eddie Mincey officiating. Interment was held in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Washington County, Georgia on November 16, 1934 as the fifth child of the late Mr. Briscoe Johnson and the late Mrs. Rosa Rolling Johnson.
Mrs. McClarin began her education in Sandersville, Georgia and at the age of fifteen, she relocated to Detroit, Michigan residing with her eldest sister, the late Mrs. Katie F. Shannon. She completed her high school education and later obtained her licensed practical nursing diploma.
She was employed for over thirty years at the Wayne County Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. After retirement from nursing, she returned to Sandersville, Georgia.
Gent was united in marriage to Mr. Alphonso Bettis and this union was blessed with a son, Mr. Alvin Bettis, whom preceded her in death. Later in life she married Mr. Hugh Oscar McClarin who also preceded her in death
Mrs. McClarin loved attending her church, Healing Temple Ministries, listening to gospel music, walking and making friends. She loved children and wherever she went, children were attracted to her loving spirit and kindness. Her most enduring love was for her dog, Trully.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mrs. Katie F. Shannon, Mrs. Leslie J. Wheeler and two brothers: Mr. Emory Johnson and Mr. Robert Johnson.
Mrs. McClarin leaves to cherish her memories a devoted niece: Ms. Barbara Wheeler, Sandersville, Georgia; great nieces: Mrs. Valencia (Donald, Sr.) Buck, Ms. Claire Buck, Sandersville, Georgia, Ms. Courtney Buck, Valdosta, Georgia, Ms. Cayla Buck, Lilburn, Georgia, Ms. Cassidi Buck, Atlanta, Georgia; great nephews: Mr. Emory C. Wheeler, Montgomery, Alabama, Mr. Emory S. Wheeler, Dallas, Texas, Mr. Justin Wheeler, Columbus, Georgia; devoted cousins: Mr. Bennie Madison and family, Mrs. Jean Hall and family; many devoted friends including: Ms. Bertha Harris, Mr. B.F. (Jackie) Harris, Mrs. Pamela Wright; a host of other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
