Mrs. Sherry Hammett


Mrs. Sherry Hammett passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Fairview Park Hospital, Dublin, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Dixon Branch Baptist Church located at 4120 Scarboro Hwy, Rocky Ford, GA 30455, with Apostle Beulah Budgett officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hammett was born March 1, 1967 to the parentage of Mrs. Edna Culver Lovett and the late Mr. Robert Louis Culver.

At an early age Sherry joined Dixon Branch Baptist Church, Rocky Ford, GA. She was educated in the public school system of Screven County where she graduated with the class of 1986.

She was nicknamed Sister Baby by her grandmother Inez and aunt Janie. Sherry was a member of her school chorus. After high school, she met Mr. Robert Hammett and they were married in December 1995 and decided to reside in Sandersville, GA

Sherry worked part time with Washington County Training Center. She was a vibrant and energetic woman who loved to do crafts. She never met a stranger and even as her health declined she still tried to make people laugh. Her favorite saying was “Hey Doll.” Whenever someone would ask her how she was doing she would always respond, “I’m fine” even when she was feeling bad.

Mrs. Hammett is survived by her husband: Mr. Robert Hammett, Sandersville, GA; mother: Mrs. Edna Mae Lovett; brother: Mr. Jermaine Robertson, Rocky Ford, GA; niece: Little Miss Jasmine Lonon, Ellabell, GA; devoted cousins: Mrs. Inez Lane, Rocky Ford, GA, Mr. William Small, Savannah, GA, Ms. Aprel Lane, Mr. Tyrell Lane, Statesboro, GA, Ms. Sandra Edwards, Atlanta, GA; two sisters-in-law: Ms. Betty Dawson, Sandersville, GA, Mrs. Mae Frances Smiley, Pennsylvania; two brothers-in-law: Mr. Roy Hammett, Mr. Nathaniel Hammett, Sandersville, GA; godmother: Rev. Johnnie Mae Hunter, Sandersville, GA; seven aunts: Mrs. Willie Mae (Carswell) Duggan, Mrs. Janice (Larry) Rogers, Mrs. Sarah (Floyd Mincy) Edwards, Sandersville, GA, Ms. Daisy Simon, Ms. Pauline Collins, Orland, FL, Ms. Sarah Bennett, Ms. Margret Bennett, Miami, FL; two uncles: Mr. Arthur (Vicella) Lowe, Conway, SC, Mr. Norris (Lisa) Simon, Orlando, FL; a host of other relatives and friends.
