Mr. Bernard Frazier


Mr. Bernard Frazier, Sandersville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Augusta, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at New Birth Christian Ministries with Brother J.J. Frazier officiating. Interment was held in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Frazier was born on August 8, 1930 in Tennille, GA to the parentage of the late Mr. Bernard and Mrs. Elemelich Eunice Frazier, Sr.

Bernard volunteered for the United States Army in January 1951 and retired in September 1972 after serving twenty years. During his tenure, he served in the U.S. Infantry of the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg. He completed basic training at Ft Jackson, SC. From there he served at Fort Bragg where he made the rank of Corporal. Later, during his promotions of Sergeant and Sergeant First Class, he served as a First Sergeant, a machine gunner, Airborne Trainer Jump Master and Senior Enlisted Advisor to Reserve units. His military travels took him to many states in the United States including Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Alaska, and Texas; in addition to Korea, Vietnam, and Okinawa, Japan. He received the following military awards and decorations: The Bronze Star Medal (for superior actions in Vietnam setting a record for providing millions of tonnage of supplies and materials for U.S. troops during the war), National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Korean Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 2 Outstanding Service Bars, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, 4 Good Conduct Medals, Parachutist Badge, Expert Badge M-14 Rifle.

He was an entrepreneur, avid fisherman and gardener.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty six years: Mrs. Leretha Frazier; daughter: Ms. Kathy Frazier; sisters: Mrs. Dorothy Wilcox, Mrs. Patricia Coleman; brothers: Mr. Artie Frazier, Mr. Marion Frazier, Mr. Fred Frazier and Mr. Motel Jones.

Mr. Frazier is survived by four daughters: Ms. Faith Ammons, Newnan, GA, Mrs. Patsy (Michael) Boykin, Shady Dale, GA, Mrs. Wanda (Willie) Taylor, Mableton, GA, Ms. April Frazier, Sandersville, GA; two sons: Mr. Leo (Andrea) Frazier, Warner Robins, GA, Mr. Joseph (Allegra) Frazier, Chesapeake, VA; thirteen grandchildren: Amanda Frazier, Ananda Frazier, Orlando Worsham, Lea Frazier, Mariah Frazier, Joseph Frazier, Natashia (Mazzetti) Mitchell, Antonio Boykin, Tashae Boykin, Skylar Boykin, Shaun Boykin, William Taylor, Savannah Taylor, Aaron Taylor; four great-grandchildren: Jaylon Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, Amiya Mitchell, Kianna Seaborne; two sisters: Mrs. Carolyn Kirkland and Mrs. Yvonne Baker; two brothers: Mr. Calvin(Elaine) Frazier, Mr Willie (Inez) Smith. Several other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
