Mr. Charlie L. Hall

Mr. Charlie L. Hall passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at a local hospital. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 12 noon at Bold Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Owens officiating. Interment was held in church cemetery.

Mr. Hall grew up in the Deepstep Community. He attended Deepstep California School. As a young boy, chance would place him briefly in a Baldwin County classroom, alongside a pretty young girl, who would unknowingly become his future wife of 60 years. He joined Bold Spring Baptist Church at a young age and served faithfully. He was ordained as a deacon in 1998.

Mr. Charlie married Miss Annie Williams in December 1947 and shared sixty years. They were blessed with two children, a daughter, Rener, and then a son, Horace, whom he affectionately called Sonny.

Charlie began his work career early in life. He developed a strong work ethic and reputation for dependability. He worked diligently in the farming, sawmill and kaolin industries. In 1993, he retired from Burgess Pigment after twenty one years. His tenure at Burgess served as a source of pride and accomplishment.

Sporting baseball caps, enjoying an occasional Dairy Lane banana split or pineapple milkshake, fishing, working in his garden, listening to gospel music, story telling, and being with his family friends were among his favorite pastimes.

He was a devout family man who was passionate about his bloodline. He had a heart that surpassed all boundaries. His love was never ending.

Mr. Hall is survived by his daughter: Mrs. Rener (Willie) Collier. Four sisters: Mrs. Lila Bell (Crawford) Jones, Ms. Arnita Scott, Ms. Juanita Veal, Ms. Viola Veal. Three grandchildren: Mr. Cornelius Haynes, Ms. Audrey Haynes, Mrs. Telesha (Eric) Satcher. Four great-grandchildren: Ms. Mikayla Reeves, Mr. Dereon Taylor, Ms. Kwani Haynes, Ms. Jhane Haynes. Several other relatives and friends. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
