Mr. James Lucas

Mr. James Edward Lucas departed this life on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Chicago, IL. Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. from the M. C. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lindra Fleming officiating. Interment was held in the Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Lucas was born on September 25, 1944 to the parentage of the late Mr. Shelton Lucas and the late Mrs. Rhoda Ann Armstrong Lucas.

Mr. Lucas served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked at Nestle Foods, formally Curtis Candies until his retirement. He was married to Mrs. Jewel Lucas; and though they never had children, they raised their great nieces and nephews: Mrs. Latoya Willis, Mr. Reginald Willis, Mr. Robert Woodard, and Late Ms. Darlene Jordan as their own.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Leon, Almetta, Bernice, Bennie, Ruth, Shelton Jr., Lindberg, Elizabeth, and Elnora.

Mr. Lucas leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife: Mrs. Jewel Lucas, Chicago, IL; three brothers: Mr. Argainie Lucas, Mr. Levern (Rena) Lucas, California, Mr. Charles (Hattie) Lucas, Greenwood, MS; three sisters-in-law: Ms. Hattie Belle Harris, Marion, OH, Mrs. Geraldine James, Mrs. Catherine James, Tennille, GA; two brothers-in-law: Mr Horace (Erin) James, Mr. Alex James, Tennille, GA; devoted niece: Ms. Doris Jordan (remember the duct tape); great nephew and devoted caretaker: Mr. Robert Lee Woodard; several other relatives and friends. M. C. Smith Funeral Home was in charge.
